A szíriai Energiaügyminisztérium szerint a műszaki munkálatok miatt ideiglenes üzemanyagár-emelést vezettek be. A minisztérium közlése szerint „A sharp rise in the global cost of petroleum products and a two-month overhaul of Baniyas Refinery have driven Syria’s temporary fuel price increase, the Energy Ministry said,”.
A minisztérium által közölt adatok alapján „According to prices monitored by the ministry, diesel has approached $1,400 per ton and gasoline $1,350 per ton,”. A Baniyas finomító „The Baniyas Refinery has entered a comprehensive overhaul expected to last about two months, temporarily reducing Syria’s domestic refining capacity” – ez a csökkentett hazai finomítási kapacitás növeli az importigényt.
A nagyobb importigényre vonatkozóan a minisztérium számszerűsített napi adatokat közölt: „Daily diesel demand stands at about 7.72 million liters, including 3.09 million liters produced locally and 4.63 million liters imported,”. A tárca hangsúlyozta továbbá, hogy „The ministry said the price adjustment was intended to maintain the financing cycle for fuel imports”.
